In Padua, metal is also a symbol of solidarity. That’s the spirit behind Metal Against Cancer, a brand-new charity festival set to take place on September 5th at Grind House in Padua, Italy, bringing together musicians, fans, and volunteers for a day dedicated to music and social commitment.
The goal behind the initiative is simple: transforming a night of metal into a meaningful opportunity to support an important cause. All the artists involved will perform free of charge, and the proceeds from the event will be donated to AIRC, Italy’s leading non-profit organization dedicated to funding independent cancer research.
The show will kick off with Bloody Unicorn, a symphonic death metal band featuring two EPs and three singles under their belt. While their discography is still growing, their powerful sound and stage presence will have the perfect setting to be unleashed in front of a home crowd.
Next up will be another local act, Newsun. Hailing from Padua, the band is ready to bring their intense sound to the stage, blending the aggressive and crushing dynamics of death groove with the melancholic melodies and darker atmospheres of black metal.
Among the standout acts at Metal Against Cancer are Defbit. The band is set to deliver a performance that perfectly reflects its unmistakable sound: Italian-language lyrics infused with a hip-hop attitude, backed by crushing metal riffs that lean heavily into metalcore while incorporating touches of deathcore. The result is an explosive blend of styles that’s impossible to ignore—and even harder not to get swept up in.
Closing the event as headliners will be Dead//Fall, one of the most promising emerging acts in the Italian modern metal scene. Hailing from Milan, the band delivers a cinematic deathcore sound that combines crushing breakdowns, razor-sharp riffs, and atmospheric layers enhanced by a strong visual identity. Thanks to their relentless live activity and their ability to balance aggression and emotional depth, Dead//Fall have quickly established themselves as one of the most exciting names in the Italian metal landscape.
