Extreme is the way

GAME OVER – Face The End

An album of proud, combative thrash metal that, following in the footsteps of its predecessor, comes across more inspired and intricate.
It didn’t take long for Game Over to deliver a new record—the sixth chapter in a long and consistent career.

Hailing from Ferrara and active since 2008, the band has become a major name thanks to releases that have consistently showcased their dedication to thrash metal—a genre they not only master but proudly represent within the Italian scene. Following 2023’s Hellframes, the band underwent a lineup change: Renato Chiccoli was replaced by Danny Schiavina on vocals, and Leonardo Molinari joined on bass. A kind of revolution, given that the lineup had remained stable since 2012, but one that clearly benefits the outcome of the latest album, Face The End.

What can fans expect? A proud, combative thrash metal record that, following in the footsteps of its predecessor, comes across deeper and more intricate, giving the band plenty of room to unleash their unstoppable personality. The opener Lust for Blood throws listeners straight into adrenaline-fueled melodies and tension-packed solos, a perfect throwback to classic thrash energy. Schiavina proves to be a smart addition, his voice reminiscent of Chiccoli’s, complemented by the band’s trademark rousing choruses. After the explosive Neck Breaking Dance and Grip of Time, Lost in Disgrace slows the pace slightly with midtempo grooves and more dramatic melodies. The intensity fires up again with Veil of Insanity and Gateway to Infinity, where the guitars of Luca Zironi and Alessandro Sansone shine through high-class solos and exhilarating riffs. The brief, dramatic interlude Tempesta sets the stage for Crimson Waves, a track rich in tragic and expressive moods, leaving the final act to Weaving Fate, another relentless, battle-ready assault.

Once again, Game Over delivers. In a genre often bound by tradition, Face The End manages to stay fresh with more developed, original ideas, securing the band’s place alongside Italian thrash heavyweights like Extrema, Hyades, and Schizophrenia. And their rise is far from over.
