A Banquet for the Dead: Everything You Need to Know

Four bands will share the stage for a night dedicated to the fiercest and most haunting death metal. Here’s everything you need to know.

2025 has already come out swinging on the live front. After a wave of major shows—like Pantera tearing up the Unipol Arena in Bologna and Marilyn Manson bringing the chaos to Alcatraz in Milan—the underground is now stepping up with a string of unmissable dates.

In a February bursting at the seams, A Banquet for the Dead stands tall as one of the month’s must-see events. Set for Saturday the 22nd at Arci CDC in Parma, the night promises a relentless descent into the most vicious and visceral forms of death metal, with four bands ready to unleash hell. And make no mistake—the lineup is stacked.

Opening the ritual are Ignobleth, a young but fiercely promising act whose luciferian blackened death metal is primed to hit like a barrage of gunfire. Hailing from Modena, the trio—Kommander Baal (drums), Nex VII (guitars), and Bloodlord Ixiataaga (vocals/bass)—will showcase their debut EP Voidspawn Sacrifice, a release steeped in old-school worship and already turning heads as one of 2024’s standout debuts.

Next in line, Sum Herald are ready to raise the temperature. Fresh off their debut album Sum Herald on Earth, the Venetian outfit brings a ferocious yet forward-thinking take on blackened death metal—guaranteed to ignite the pit and leave a mark.

Things take a darker, more theatrical turn with Sinister Ghost, one of the most exciting names in the Italian underground right now. Expect horror-driven performances, eerie stagecraft, and songs that unfold like twisted cinematic nightmares. Blending death, black, and gothic influences, their sound—captured in What’s Left of Human? and The Dark Abyss of Omerty—is as immersive as it is unsettling.

Closing the live sets, Burial will deliver the final, crushing blow. Active since 2012, the Tuscan band dives deep into oppressive atmospheres with material from their debut full-length Inner Gateways To The Slumbering Equilibrium At The Center Of Cosmos—a suffocating fusion of horror-laced death metal and bleak, spectral doom.

And for those still standing, the night doesn’t end there: Akira will take over with an old-school DJ set, ensuring the chaos carries on until the very last moment.
