BLOOD INCANTATION – Absolute Elsewhere

The band confirms itself as one of the most exciting forces in modern death metal, blending fresh ideas into their core sound with stunning results.
In today’s death metal landscape, few bands command attention like Blood Incantation. From the start, they have earned prestige by boldly reshaping the genre—fusing tradition and innovation to create a sound uniquely their own.

Their debut, Starspawn (2016), hinted at innovation despite its classic death metal roots. But the follow-up, Hidden History Of The Human Race (2019), truly defined their style. The EP Timewave Zero (2022) surprised listeners by abandoning metal for full psychedelia and ambient soundscapes. Some expected a shift, but not so bold. The band ventured into new territory. They bring that same spirit to Absolute Elsewhere, where they blend fresh vision with the classic foundations shaping their identity.

The result is clear: two tracks, about twenty minutes each, in three suites. Death metal, with nods to Morbid Angel, merges with ambient and psychedelic/prog rock. This achieves a balance between past and present. Sharp riffs, guttural vocals, and technical sections combine with dreamlike melodies to form a complex yet flowing structure. The minutes pass naturally, aided by guest synths from Thorsten Quaeschning (Tangerine Dream) and Nicklas Malmqvist (Hällas). Their contributions deepen the ethereal parts without clashing with heavier passages. What seems challenging at first becomes a smooth, immersive experience, ending in a dreamy, emotional finale.

Absolute Elsewhere offers a perfect compromise between past and present, classic vision and new horizons—territory Blood Incantation expands without fear, always embracing experimentation. This album showcases the band’s immense creativity and establishes them as one of the most interesting forces in metal over the last decade.
