Extreme is the way

Krisiun+ Abysmal Dawn + Pyrexia + Gorgatron

Live report of Krisiun's Canadian date, where they celebrated the 25th anniversary of Conquerors of Armageddon alongside three notable bands.

TORONTO (ON), The Garrison - 11/27/2025

Here we are again, at one of Toronto’s most iconic temples of extreme music. Most underground events pass through the Garrison, and when they do, they’re never to be missed. One such occasion was Krisiun’s Canadian stop on their North American tour, where the band celebrated the 25th anniversary of Conquerors of Armageddon, supported by a lethal trio: Abysmal Dawn, ready to promote their new single Cradle of Affliction; Pyrexia, fresh off their latest album Unholy; and Gorgatron, also eager to showcase their recent release Sentience Revoked. This wasn’t going to be a light night—the show kicked off with intensity, setting the perfect tone to combat the icy, snowy November typical of Canada.

GORGATRON

The Garrison doors opened at 6:30 PM. Half an hour later, Gorgatron took the stage. Without main vocalist Karl Schmidt, session singer Roxana Bouchard Laflamme stepped in seamlessly, excelling both vocally and as a frontwoman. With bassist Cam Dewald, she led a short, intense set featuring material from the band’s two latest albums. A strong opening, leaving no one disappointed.

Divulgence
Agony Reborn
Insurmountable
Absorbency
Flesh Erosion
Omnipotent
Noxious

PYREXIA

The temperature rose as Pyrexia hit the stage. They, too, were without their vocalist Jim Beach, replaced by session singer Jordon Mamaluke, who immediately commanded attention with his jacket, hat, and sunglasses. But his time on stage was short-lived; after the first two tracks, he plunged into the crowd, diving into the moshpit and urging everyone to keep the energy up while Chris Basile and the rest of the band kept the set moving. The Pyrexia set, which included material from their debut Sermon of Mockery, delivered relentless slam/brutal death attacks. With eyes constantly shifting between stage and floor, the show flowed fast and fun, arguably the most engaging of the night.

ABYSMAL DAWN

Abysmal Dawn performed next, bridging the evening to its climax. After a thirty-minute break, they hit the stage with one mission: devastation. Unlike Pyrexia, they stayed put, but the impact was undiminished. Charles Elliott stayed focused, delivering unrelenting growls. Bassist Eliseo Garcia and drummer James Coppolino matched him in precision, creating a tight wall of sound that kept the crowd headbanging. The setlist included the new single Cradle of Affliction and selections from each album, crafting an intense, compelling show.

KRISIUN

Finally, Krisiun took the stage. The Brazilian trio brought 35 years of experience, showing what extreme metal originates from their homeland. They are not the first to explore these sonic territories, but they are among the most important interpreters, especially since the mid-’90s with albums like Black Force Domain, Apocalyptic Revelations, and Conquerors of Armageddon. Tonight, they celebrated the latter’s 25th anniversary before a crowd already chanting their names. Once on stage, Krisiun delivered without error. Alex Camargo, handling both bass and vocals, unleashed unrelenting growls. Moyses Kolesne shone as lead guitarist, and Max Kolesne maintained his signature intensity behind the drum kit. Each member had moments to display their skill, particularly during solos following Combustion Inferno. The setlist, heavy on the celebrated album, kept the audience in a frenzy of mosh pits and crowd-surfing. The performance lasted just over an hour, leaving the audience fully satisfied. With a band as tight, stable, and long-lived as Krisiun, no disappointment was ever on the cards.
